Captain Michael Kohlmann threatens to lack the Davis Cup qualifier in Brazil on 4 and 5 March. The 48-year-old has been positively tested for the coronavirus, the German Tennis Bund (DTB) announced on Tuesday. Kohlmann has so far a mild course.
The former professional should fly to Brazil on Saturday, if there is a negative test result. Otherwise, the German team will be supervised by national coach Philipp Petzschner together with Dirk Dier.
Kohlmann had nominated at the beginning of February Jan-Lennard Struff, the two newcomers Oscar Otte and Daniel Altmaier and for double Kevin Krawietz / Tim Pütz.
Olympic champion Alexander Zverev is not there again. The game is played in the Parque Olimpico Arena Tenis on Sand. The winner qualifies for the group stage in September.
