Insbesondere die Breath of the Wild-Mods, die Zelda spielbar machen, haben es mir angetan. Endlich darf die Titelheldin aus Links Schatten heraustreten und der Welt von Hyrule zeigen, was alles in ihr steckt. Das freut mich nicht nur aus feministischer Perspektive, sondern es ergibt einfach auch so viel mehr Sinn. Streng genommen war BotW sowieso schon immer eher Zeldas Geschichte und sie die eigentliche Heldin.
Dank der Mods passt endlich alles: Zelda ist nicht mehr dazu verdammt, ewig die Stellung zu halten und auf ihre Rettung zu warten, sondern kann endlich selbst Hand anlegen. Sogar in den Zwischensequenzen stimmen die Pronomen und andere Figuren reagieren überrascht, weil alle eigentlich Link erwarten und Zelda unterschätzen – aber wir können beweisen, dass sie mehr als fähig dazu ist, Hyrule selbst zu retten.
Second Wind zählt zu den umfangreichsten und besten Fan-Projekten
Die mittlerweile wohl berühmteste und vielleicht auch umfangreichste Mod für Zelda Breath of the Wild heißt Second Wind. Sie haucht dem Nintendo-Megahit wortwörtlich neues Leben ein. Das umfasst neue Orte, neue Quests, neue Figuren, einen neuen Shop, neue Items und vieles mehr. Auch bereits bestehende Gegenden wurden überarbeitet und viel Neues hinzugefügt.
Rund 50 Modder arbeiten gemeinsam an der Second Wind-Mod für Zelda BotW und das Ergebnis wirkt jetzt schon so abgefahren und professionell, dass Nintendo das Ganze problemlos als DLC verkaufen könnte. Die Mod ist zwar noch nicht ganz fertig, aber bereits spielbar und wirklich lohnenswert:

Einige Mods verpassen den Krogs neue, unterschiedliche Dialogzeilen, wieder andere geben den Mitgliedern der Yiga-Bande verschiedene Namen. Die End Game-Mod macht die letzten Bosskämpfe deutlich schwieriger und Hyrule Rebalance krempelt fast das komplette Spiel um (via: The Gamer).
