Mortal Kombat 11 was a success, but as is with any release from a popular series, it also had some glaring omissions. But according to the game’s director, these absences were for good reason. We’re going to take a look at how Mortal Kombat has changed over the years and why two of its most prominent characters have gone MIA.

Mortal Kombat 11 had a vast roster of characters, but despite this, it was still missing out on numerous fan-favorite characters. Mortal Kombat has been going for so many years, and it’s featured so lots of playable characters over the years as well that undoubtedly some don’t make it into every video game. For those that do not understand: Smoke debuted back in Mortal Kombat II as a concealed challenger prior to ending up being a secret playable character in Mortal Kombat 3.

Smoke as a ninja has a little a bigger fandom, but both characters were in demand before MK11 was released and throughout its post-launch assistance. Neither were included however, and the reason that is basic. According to series co-creator and director Ed Boon, they needed rest. Which’s it. This is certainly a frustrating explanation for those who were desperate to see them in the most recent installation, but it unlocks for them to be in Mortal Kombat 12.

Mentioning Mortal Kombat 12, there’s still no word of when it is revealed, let alone launched. That stated, the abovementioned Boon did apparently tease the video game’s roster, or a minimum of a few characters that may be contained within it. Sadly for Smoke and Stryker fans, neither have been discussed up until now. This isn’t a bad thing, as a few of the characters mentioned were actually relatively unofficial. What it suggests however exists’s absolutely nothing to be thrilled about yet if either of this set is your preferred character.
